New Officer Joins Royal Gibraltar Regiment

Second Lieutenant Ollie Kennedy has officially commissioned into the Royal Gibraltar Regiment following the Sovereign’s Parade at Sandhurst on 7th August. He will now complete further training in Brecon before taking command of a platoon later this year.
A statement from British Forces Gibraltar follows below:
Lieutenant Colonel John Pitto MBE, Commanding Officer of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment, attended the Sovereign’s Parade at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst to witness the passing out of Second Lieutenant Ollie Kennedy, who officially commissioned into the Regiment on Friday, 7 August.
The parade marks the completion of 44 weeks of intensive military training, signalling an officer cadet’s transition into a commissioned leader in the British Army. The achievement was celebrated by family, friends, and military personnel, culminating in the traditional Sovereign’s Ball.
Lieutenant Colonel John Pitto MBE said: "It is a privilege to formally welcome 2Lt Ollie Kennedy to our Regimental family. Watching another fine officer earn their commission is always a proud moment, but attending today carries a bittersweet weight for me personally. It will likely be my final Sovereign’s Parade at Sandhurst as a serving officer. Passing the torch to the next generation of leaders like Ollie gives me immense confidence in the future of the Regiment! Nulli Expugnabilis Hosti."
Second Lieutenant Ollie Kennedy added: "Commissioning into the Royal Gibraltar Regiment is a huge honour, and passing out on the parade square yesterday was a moment I will never forget. It has been a long, demanding journey through Sandhurst, but I am thrilled to finally join the team. I am ready to get to work and serve alongside the very best."
Following his commissioning, Second Lieutenant Kennedy will proceed to Brecon to complete the demanding Platoon Commanders' Battle Course (PCBC) before taking command of his platoon at Christmas.
