Traffic Restrictions Announced For Ceremony Of The Keys
The RGP will introduce a number of parking restrictions, road closures and diversions as part of the policing operation for the Ceremony of the Keys on Thursday 8th October.
Restrictions will affect several areas including Line Wall Road, Casemates Hill, Corral Road, Fish Market Road and Irish Town. The Market Place bus terminus and taxi ranks will also be temporarily relocated during the event.

The Royal Gibraltar Police will be implementing a number of parking restrictions, road closures and diversions as part of the wider policing and security operation for this year’s Ceremony of the Keys.
Parking Restrictions
Timings: 10:00pm Tuesday 6th until 9:00pm on Thursday 8th October 2026.
∙ Line Wall Road
o Parking spaces on the southern carriageway opposite the GibOil Petrol Station will be temporarily re-assigned to a Taxi Rank.
Timings: 5:00pm Wednesday 7th until 9:00pm on Thursday 8th October 2026.
∙ Casemates Hill
o The Taxi Rank at Casemates Hill will be temporarily suspended, and both the Casemates Hill and Market Place taxi-ranks will operate from Line Wall Road during the period of this restriction.
Timings: 10:00pm Wednesday 7th until 9:00pm on Thursday 8th October 2026.
∙ Corral Road / Market Place
o Loading Bays adjacent to Bus Terminal
o Taxi Rank adjacent to Bus Terminal
o Motorcycle parking bay located outside Gilbert’s take-away.
o Public Service Vehicle and motorcycle parking areas adjacent to and opposite the Ocean restaurant.
o Motorcycle parking area adjacent to the Smith Dorrien Bridge underpass.
∙ Waterport Road
o Parking spaces on the Western carriageway opposite the area of Ramsons supermarket will serve as the temporary bus-stop replacing the Market Place bus terminal.
∙ Fish Market Road
o Initial section from its junction with Corral Road, up to and including the loading/unloading bays adjacent to the Public Market and Bin Store.
∙ Cooperage Lane / Irish Town
o Loading/Unloading bays outside the rear of the ICC building, at the junction of Irish Town with Cooperage Lane.
∙ Crutchett’s Ramp
o Parking restrictions will cover the entirety of this area.
∙ King’s Lines
o Parking restrictions will cover the entirety of this area.
Road Closures
Timings: 5:00pm until 9:00pm on Thursday 8th October 2026.
∙ Irish Town / Fish Market Road / Cooperage Lane(Junction): o Controlled access will only be available for Emergency Services Vehicles.
Timings: 6:00pm until 9:00pm on Thursday 8th October 2026.
∙ Corral Road:
o A full closure will take place in the area between the Waterport Roundabout / Corral Road and the Smith Dorrien Bridge underpass. Access to Landport Ditch car park will only be possible from the north, namely, the junction of Winston Churchill Avenue with Smith Dorrien and Corral Road.
∙ Fish Market Road:
o Controlled access will be in place for residents of Ocean Heights, up to and including the Montagu Curtain car-park.
Bus & Taxi Services.
∙ Bus Services:
o The Market Place bus terminus will be relocated to the Waterport Road eastbound carriageway (opposite Ramsons Supermarket), from 5:00pm on Thursday 8th October, until termination of the event later that same evening.
∙ Taxi Services:
o The Casemates Hill taxi rank will be relocated to Line Wall Road opposite Gib Oil petrol station as from 5:00pm on Wednesday 7th October.
o The Market Place taxi rank will be relocated to Line Wall Road (opposite Gib Oil petrol station) as from 5:00pm on Thursday 8th October.
o Both taxi ranks will resume normal operations at the conclusion of the event and re-opening of roads, which is scheduled for approximately 9:00pm on Thursday 8th October.
Bicycles and Personal Light Electric Transporters (PLETs).
Timings: 8:00am until 9:00pm on Thursday 8th October 2026.
∙ Market Place
o Parking / Securing of bicycles and PLETs will be NOT be permitted in the areas adjacent to the Market Place Exchange Bureau and outside the Public Market, as indicated by signage.
∙ Casemates Square (outside Burger King, Casemates Hill and Landport Tunnel Casemates exit)
o Parking / Securing of bicycles and PLETs will be NOT be permitted at these locations, as indicated by signage.
