Oct 02 - ESG Calls For LNG Safety Reports To Be Published
The Environmental Safety Group (ESG) says that it met in August with the Government to present its concerns regarding the power station, LNG and more general community apprehension over the lack of promised safety reports. The ESG says it was assured at that meeting that its specific recommendations for best available technology (BAT) would be researched and implemented and would be included as a condition on any approval by the DPC. The group was also assured that the safety reports were imminent, in fact, “no more than two weeks away.”
The Government says that it has clearly explained that full details on the new LNG power station and storage facilities will be given when the full safety assessment on the final details have been received. Number Six says that any information given before this will be “inaccurate” and therefore to release any such information would be “irresponsible”.

In response to an opinion piece to the Gibraltar Chronicle dated 30th September where Minister Cortes suggested that the storage facilities that will be provided by Government 'in the plant at Gibraltar are small', the GSD has called on the Government to make clear all its LNG plans for Gibraltar.
