GSD Calls On Government To Apologise For Affordable Housing Delays

Following the announcement that Phase 2 of Hassans Centenary is complete, the GSD has called on the Government to apologise for housing delays.
A statement from the GSD follows below:
The Government should apologise to the individuals and families who have been patiently waiting to have access to their homes at Phase 2 of Hassans Centenary and not announce its completion as a success. This naked attempt at spinning a positive story out of failure - no doubt with an eye to the next election - flies in the face of the very substantial delays which this project and others have been and are subjected to.
The apology should be extended to all those who are interminably waiting for the delivery of flats at Bob Peliza and Chatham Views.
The undeniable fact is that the GSLP has breached electoral promises which go back 8 to 10 years, given that these developments were promised at the time of and since the 2015 General Election.
Damon Bossino said: “The Government should also take full responsibility for their inability to deliver for those new generations of young Gibraltarians who missed the opportunity of obtaining a property in these much delayed housing projects who have been left facing the stark reality of very expensive rents, mortgages, living in Spain or staying with their parents.”
These are the uncomfortable truths which the GSD will not allow Government to ignore.
