Nov 03 - Limited Edition Gold Coin To Mark Queen’s Record-Breaking Reign

Gibraltar will release a very exclusive, limited edition Gibraltar gold coin struck in 22 carat fine gold to commemorate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II becoming the longest serving monarch. The edition is limited to 63 coins, one for each year of her reign.

On September 9th 2015, Queen Elizabeth II became the longest serving Monarch. Queen Elizabeth II was crowned on February 6th 1952 and has therefore reigned for 63 years.

The coins started to be struck on the day of the celebration, September 9th 2015 and will be offered to collectors and investors worldwide.

The quality of the gold coin combined with its limited worldwide mintage, its historic anniversary and its gold content will make this a one of the most magnificent bullion coins available in the market. The coins are priced at £1,895 and are sold inside a secure capsule within a presentation box that includes a certificate of authenticity with the edition limit.

In keeping with the traditions of sovereign coins since 1489, the obverse design includes Latin inscription and sizes. The Sovereign coin design does not include a denominational value as each coin is determined by its diameter. The design depicts the Ian Rank Broadley effigy, previously used on the Gibraltar coinage. The reverse design depicts a recent image of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II, with text surrounding the coin stating her title and the commemorative event; Queen Elizabeth II 1952-2015, Longest Reigning Monarch.

The coins are exclusively available from the Gibraltar Philatelic Bureau and can be pre-ordered in advance of their worldwide release date of the 1st December 2015.
