Oct 10 - Gibraltar Port Authority Attends Singapore International Bunkering Conference (SIBCON)

10 October 2016

Staff from the Gibraltar Port Authority (GPA) recently attended the world's largest and most influential bunkering event in Singapore. The CEO and Captain of the Port, Bob Sanguinetti was accompanied by Bunkering Superintendent, Daniel Perera at the Singapore International Bunkering conference (SIBCON).

A truly global conference, SIBCON brought together over 50 of the top decision makers from the industry and some 1600 delegates to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing global shipping, consider the rapid change in oil and gas markets, and work together to further enhance safe, efficient and sustainable bunkering practices.

Commodore Sanguinetti commented that the event “provided a very useful platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience. It was reassuring to, once again, witness first-hand the high regard in which the Port of Gibraltar is held across the shipping community, particularly for its bunkering best practice.”

Minister for Shipping, Albert Isola, added that “attendance at such high profile events underpins the Government's robust marketing strategy, reinforcing the port's reputation and builds on the strong relations the GPA enjoys with the global shipping fraternity.”

During his time in the maritime city state of Singapore, Commodore Sanguinetti also held meetings with a number of ship owners and operators and attended an LNG session and lunch hosted by Shell Marine.
