May 23 - Scottish School Gets Taste Of Llanito Life
A school in Scotland got a taste of Llanito life and culture thanks to 10-year-old Connor, the son of Gibraltarian author Carla Acheson.
A recent morning session at his primary school (Broughton Primary School in central Edinburgh) brought parents and children together to celebrate the school's multi-cultural diversity.
During the session, Carla and her son created a leaf of their hometown which, among other nationalities, will be displayed to visitors as a large tree.
The purpose of this tree is so visitors can see and appreciate the cultural linguistic diversity of the students who attend the school.
The session was arranged by Additional Language teachers, Caroline Gordon and Sarah Neary.
The additional language teachers were also very interested in the Llanito language and its origin, as Connor is the only Gibraltarian student attending the primary school.
Photos show Connor proudly showing his Gibraltar leaf of the British Rock to be added to the tree.
