Mar 04 - Government Release St Paul’s First School Refurbishment Plans

The Government has today released plans for the refurbishment of St Paul’s First School at Varyl Begg Estate.

This is consistent with the Government’s stated intention of refurbishing and improving all those schools which will not be replaced with new buildings.

The work will include renovation the façade and building a new dining hall to replace the existing one.

It will also include the provision of additional classrooms for children of nursery age, and a new, enhanced outdoor learning facility to facilitate open air environmental learning activities.

Further improvements to the school’s layout to make better use of space are also planned.

The plans were revealed today at the School by Minister for education John Cortes, Director of Education Jackie Mason, Head Teacher Rosanna Hitchcock and project manager Damian Muscat of the Department of Education.

The Minister for Education said: “The Government is determined to improve the teaching experience for teachers and the learning experience for children, and in order to do this will ensure the best possible facilities are available to do this. We are therefore very pleased to show that the refurbishment of schools that are not being replaced continues, with the development team working closely with the school to achieve what is best for them. Work on all the other schools is planned or already progressing. Our children and those who teach them deserve the best.”
