Jul 26 - Police Statement On Glacis Fire – Child Suffers Minor Burn
A spokesperson from the RGP has issued the following statement:
At 1040hrs today as a result of a fire reported to police, officers of the Royal Gibraltar Police together with the City Fire Brigade attended to Portmore House, situated in Glacis Estate.
On arrival it was established that one of the residences was on fire and CFB officers immediately tackled the fire, whilst RGP officers commenced to evacuate the building. Luckily, the blaze was contained within the residence and did not spread elsewhere. There was however substantial damage reported to the flat and a child that had initially been inside, suffered a minor burn which was treated on site by an ambulance crew.
Almost 2 hours after the fire, all residents were allowed to return to their residences with the exception of the family who resided in the flat concerned, who have since been temporarily re-housed by the Ministry of Housing. The fire has been treated as an accidental fire.
