International Rugby Talent Expected At Gibraltar 7s

The Gibraltar Rugby Football Union has confirmed the return of the Gibraltar 7s, set to take place from 27th to 29th June at Europa Sports Park.
A statement from the Gibraltar Rugby Football Union follows below:
Now in its fifth edition, the tournament will once again bring together a mix of elite international players and local participants for a weekend of competition and community engagement.
This year’s event will include men’s, women’s, veterans, and junior tag categories, reflecting the tournament’s emphasis on community participation and inclusivity. Rugby sevens, known for its shorter format and fast-paced style, remains one of the most accessible forms of the sport, both for players and spectators. 7s tournaments are popular worldwide, with many fans and players attending numerous competitions throughout the year.
The Gibraltar 7s has previously welcomed Olympians and players from national squads, including Argentina and Spain; this year’s teams are again expected to feature a strong international presence. Former professional rugby player Freddie Tuilagi is expected to return to Gibraltar for this year’s competition.
Christian Santos, Minister for Tourism, said:
“The Gibraltar 7s continues to position Gibraltar as an emerging destination for sport. Its impact on summer tourism is felt, drawing athletes and supporters from a wide area and introducing many first-time visitors to Gibraltar.”
Leslie Bruzon, Minister for Sport, added:
“This is more than just a tournament. It’s a showcase of how sport can bring people together and strengthen community ties. The involvement of juniors, veterans and mixed teams shows the wide appeal of rugby sevens and what it offers to all levels.”
With over 400 players and officials expected, the event provides an annual boost to local hotels, restaurants, and transportation providers. It also creates opportunities for local businesses, volunteers and hospitality teams, while funds raised through registration and sponsorship help support Gibraltar Rugby’s development work. The event is wholly owned by the Gibraltar Rugby Football Union, the governing body for Rugby in Gibraltar.
The Gibraltar 7s is part of a growing calendar of sporting events, helping to broaden the Rock’s tourism offering beyond traditional day visits. The Europa Sports Park, with its all-weather pitch and views of the Rock and Bay, will again serve as the host venue.
Chad Thomson, founder of Gibraltar7s and Gibraltar Rugby CEO, said:
“The Gibraltar 7s reflects the hard work of many in our rugby and wider sporting community. It’s an event that brings together international competition with local involvement, and it continues to grow each year in both scale and spirit. Rugby is a real community sport and we invite everyone to come and enjoy this year’s event.”
