Feb 04 - Chess Festival Features Junior Tournament
Junior Chess in Gibraltar is an important part of the overall Tradwise Chess Festival features throughout this week. At the end of 2014 Gibraltar Masters this weekend a junior tournament – the Tradewise Gibraltar Junior Chess Championships - is organised by the organisers which will see some 120 young chess players from Gibraltar schools and the surrounding area. This junior tournament has grown alongside the main event and all players can register by picking up an entry form (including on the day by 12 noon) from the schools and Caleta Hotel.
Games start at 1pm on both days. There will be six games per day, 15 minutes on the clock per player. This is not a knock out tournament and each child will play each round.
Saturday 8, February sees the under 8, 12 and 18 and Sunday 9, February sees under 10 and 14.
Players are welcome to play on both days if eligible. All participants will receive a certificate of entry. There will be trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each section.
