Jan 15 - Moving on After 29 Years with the MOD
After 29 years of service with the MoD, Arturo Asquez was today presented with a farewell gift, by the CBF, Commodore Ian McGhie. Arturo began his career in the MOD at age of 15 when he was selected as an Apprentice Mechanic in the Dockyard. His career in the forces saw him take a job as a mechanic and then a Boat Engineer. He eventually became one of the Adventure Training Centre Instructors at the Joint Personal Development Unit (JPSU) in 2000 where he has been ever since running Power Boat, Kayaking and Climbing Courses.
Commenting on his successful career in the MOD, Arturo insisted that it had been good fun working at JPDU and had become almost more of a hobby than a job. He will now embark on a new career within the Customs industry.
Commodore McGhie praised Arturo for his work and wished him and his family well in his new job.
