Serial Killers have to start somewhere.

I was reading one of the local daily newspaper yesterday when I came across a letter that had been submitted to the editor, by a lady, who’s cat had been shot and subsequently died on her doorstep, to be discovered by her son.

Although not being a cat lover myself, I do empathise with the lady on her concern about there being someone in her vicinity, who is taking pot shots at small animals.

It’s a small step for someone who can harm a small animal before they move on to larger things. A lot of research has been done regarding the strong correlation between violence against animals and violence towards humans.

Many of the world’s most prolific serial killers, would in their youth kill small animals including cats and dogs. Studies of prison inmates reveal that as many as 75% of violent offenders had early records of animal cruelty. There are also strong links between family violence and animal cruelty.

In her letter, the lady goes on to state that this incident occurred a couple of months ago and she had reported the incident to the Royal Gibraltar Police. She was still waiting for the result from the RGP’s enquires.

As an amateur profiler, I may be able to narrow down the RGP’s search. You are looking for someone almost certainly male aged between 12 and 25 years old who lives within 100 meters from the cats owners house, with clear fields of view of the entrance to the drive and almost certainly an elevated position whether it be from some scrub or from a flat that overlooks where the cat was shot.  The person probably has parents that have a history of violence and crime.

Forget serial killers, more worrying is what the lady added, that she had found out shortly afterwards, that there is a Government financed body that is reported to have been shooting cats.

Either way the public is at risk and so are your pets.
