World Mental Health Day 2024 - GibSams 7th Anniversary

This year GibSams are working closely with the GHA Mental Health team, Department of Education and other NGOs to shine a light on World Mental Health Day.
A statement from GibSams follows below:
GibSams was founded on World Mental Health day 10th October 2017 on the back of numerous suicides. GibSams operates a confidential and anonymous helpline, chat and WhatsApp service for those that are experiencing emotional distress.
This year we are working closely with the GHA Mental Health team, Department of Education and other NGOs to shine a light on World Mental Health Day.
Following on from the success of our guest speakers last year, we are delighted to welcome Ian Russell MBE from The Molly Rose Foundation (https://mollyrosefoundation.org/). The Russell family sadly lost their youngest daughter Molly to suicide and now campaigns for safety online and Dr Susie Davies from PAPAYA (https://www.papayaparents.com/), who aims to help families thrive in the digital age. Over the coming days, they will be giving a wide variety of talks to the whole community.
Tuesday 8th October, they will be guest speakers at the launch event for this years 3rd Annual Schools Mental Health Festival in conjunction with the Department of Education. This event will be held at The Garrison Library at 7pm.
Wednesday 9th October and Thursday 10th, they will be speaking at a variety of schools for this year’s Mental Health Schools festival. They will also be supporting the teachers with presentations. Then at 7pm they will be presenting to the community at Bayside School with presentations on this year’s theme of Mental Wellbeing and Technology.
