Jun 14 - Two Men Charged For Separate Dangerous Driving Incidents
Two local men have been charged for separate dangerous driving incidents earlier this year by the Royal Gibraltar Police during the bank holiday weekend.
George Venegas Ronco, of Knight's Court, was charged with one count of dangerous driving.
The offence dates back to the evening of the 29th March 2016, when the 20-year-old was challenged by patrol officers as he rode a motorcycle against the flow of traffic at South Barrack Road.
Once stopped, and as the officers were in the process of alighting their vehicle, Venegas Ronco attempted to flee the area by accelerating his motorcycle around the police marked vehicle, colliding with it in the process and resulting in his arrest.
A second man was charged with several traffic-related offences in connection with an incident dating back to the 24th February 2016.
Zakaria Ben Hamane Zinate, 19, of Castle Road has been charged with one count of dangerous driving, one count of speeding, one count of failing to stop when signalled by a police officer in uniform, one count of using a motor vehicle without a valid police of insurance, and one count of driving without a valid driving licence.
Both men were bailed out to appear before the Magistrates’ Court this morning.
