Sep 23 - Senior Government Official Granted Bail In Rape Case

A senior Government official who was yesterday charged with two counts of rape relating to an incident in March earlier this year appeared at the Magistrates’ Court this morning.
Christopher Riddell, 53, of Catalan Gardens, was bailed out to a sum of £1,000 on his own recognizance and was told he cannot make any contact with the complainant either directly or through a third party.
Riddell, who was represented by Keith Azopardi QC, will appear at the Supreme Court on Monday 3rd October.
Robert Fischel QC appeared for the Crown.
