Oct 13 - Another Successful RGP Drugs Operation Sees 21 Year Old Arrested
A 21-year-old local man has been arrested by Drugs Squad officers on suspicion of Possession and Possession with Intent to Supply a Controlled “Class B” drug.
The arrest follows a search conducted at the man’s residence in the Upper Town yesterday evening, resulting in the seizure of several slabs of cannabis resin weighing approximately 700grms, herbal cannabis weighing approximately 40grms, and paraphernalia associated with the supply of drugs. The street value of drugs seized is of approximately £3,700. The man is currently on police bail pending further enquiries.
Commenting on this latest seizure, Detective Superintendent Ian McGrail, who heads the Crime and Protective Services division, highlighted that this arrest was the latest in a series of proactive interventions arising from extensive investigative work by a small team of committed officers.
Mr McGrail added that “the community should feel reassured of our efforts “behind the scenes” to target unscrupulous drug dealers intent on “infecting” our community with illegal substances, adding that “whilst drugs enforcement is challenging and complex in a small community like ours, we will persist and exploit all lawful means at our disposal to apprehend and disrupt this illicit activity. I would also encourage the general public to contact us on a confidential basis with any information regarding the supply of illicit drugs locally.”
