A local man has been jailed for 14 weeks today after breaking into a city centre bakery. 

A statement from the RGP follows below:

Christian Baglietto, 44, of Glacis Estate, pleaded guilty to one count of Burglary at  the Piece of Cake Bakery and was sentenced at the Magistrates’ Court this morning. 

His arrest came after he was caught on CCTV breaking into the bakery on Engineer  Lane just before 2am last Thursday (20 October). 

Once inside, he forced entry to a cash register using a screwdriver, causing damage,  before stealing approximately £50. 

At 9am that morning, staff reported the burglary to police and detectives identified  Baglietto on CCTV footage.
