Man Charged Following Assault

A local man will appear before the Magistrates’ Court this morning after a woman was assaulted in Laguna Estate last Monday.
A statement from the RGP follows below:
Riyen Lea, 35, was last night (Tuesday) charged with Wounding with Intent to Cause Grievous Bodily Harm, Theft (value under £500), Putting People in Fear of Violence, Improper use of Telecommunications and Possession of a Controlled Class B drug.
His arrest came following a call to the police Control Room on Monday morning from concerned members of the public in relation a female who had been assaulted by a male in the area of Laguna Bar.
Following the incident, Lea left the area but was arrested later that day by Response Team officers.
The investigation was taken over by detectives from the Domestic Abuse Team, who, following extensive enquiries, charged Lea as above.
He was remanded in custody at New Mole House overnight before his court appearance.
