Man Charged With Offence Under The Terrorism Act

A British national resident in Gibraltar, has been charged with one count of Using items / Clothes for Proscribed Organisation contrary to Section 11 of Terrorism Act.
A statement from the RGP follows below:
65-year-old Anthony FARRELL , a British national resident in Gibraltar, has been charged with one count of Using items / Clothes for Proscribed Organisation contrary to Section 11 of Terrorism Act.
FARRELL was observed by a uniformed officer on duty as part of the National Day policing operation walking towards the city-centre yesterday morning, wearing a t-shirt displaying content related to the conflict in the Middle East, and carrying a placard displaying various statements that included various references to the current conflict in the Middle East and support for proscribed organisation “Hamas.” He was arrested by uniformed officers in the area of Cooperage Lane, and the investigation was taken over by RGP Special Branch detectives.
FARRELL was interviewed and later charged with the offence under the Terrorism Act.
He will be appearing before the Magistrates’ Court this morning.
