Man Charged With Burglary, Theft And Other Offences

A 42 year old Spanish national has been charged with a number of offences following his arrest on Tuesday 6th January.
A statement form the RGP follows below:
42 year old Spanish national Luis Jesus MORENO MARQUEZ has been charged with a number of offences following his arrest on Tuesday 6th January 2025.
The arrest came about after uniformed Response Team officers on patrol were dispatched to a report of a Burglary in progress at a licensed premises located within Ocean Village.
As a result of the officers’ immediate response, MORENO MARQUEZ was challenged by officers whilst still within the premises he had entered as a trespasser, and found to be in possession of a crowbar and a quantity of cash.
He was arrested on suspicion of Burglary and Assault to Prevent Arrest after kicking one of the officers, and on the strength of a warrant issued by the Magistrates’ Court for failing to appear in court on the 5th January 2026 in connection with a separate charge of Theft.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department took over the investigation, and following extensive enquiries, MORENO MARQUEZ was subsequently interviewed and later charged with the following offences, which included several other matters that were subject to recent and ongoing RGP investigations, namely:
• Three counts of Burglary in respect of licensed premises at Ocean Village and retail premises in the city-centre.
• One count of Theft in respect of monies stolen from a catering establishment in the city centre.
• One count of Resisting Arrest
• One count of Assault on Police
• One count of Possession of Criminal Property
• One count of Possession of a Controlled Class B Drug
MORENO MARQUEZ will be appearing before the Magistrates’ Court this morning.
