Oct 18 - RGP Welcomes 18 Further Police Constables
Yesterday 18 further Royal Gibraltar Police constables were presented with their certificates welcoming them into the force. Police Constables Philbin, Stewart, Bright, Perez, Ferrary, Reyes, Parker, Balloqui, Trinidad, Sweet, Benhakim, Borge, Victor, Fraser, Hermida, Gonzalez, Jimenez and Passano were inspected by the Governor as they paraded in John Mackintosh Square in front of senior RGP Officers, Members of Parliament, His Worship the Mayor and Chief Minister Fabian Picardo.
Speaking at the passing out parade, Justice Minister Gilbert Licudi insisted that the detection and prevention of crime had huge importance within the community. He added that the new recruits will have a vital role to play in protecting their community and bringing offenders to justice. ‘This is only one aspect of their work, which will also entail many other tasks. It is said that in police work no two days are the same and the new recruits will have to be extremely versatile in order to allow them to cope with the different challenges that their job with bring.’
An award for the Best Academic recruit was presented to PC Nathan Hermida, whilst Best All Round recruit was presented to PC Emily Bright. The recently adopted Momy Levy award for the Best Improved in Fitness was presented to PC Aaron Balloqui.
