Break In At Income Tax Office

The Government says a break-in took place overnight at the Income Tax Office, with the incident limited to the cash office. No cash or valuables were taken, and the rest of the office remains open as normal while the RGP investigates.

A statement from the Government follows below:

HM Government of Gibraltar confirms that a break in occurred overnight at the Income Tax Office. The incident was contained to the cash office and no other part of the building was affected.

It appears the intruders were searching for cash held on site. No cash is kept at the Income Tax Office, or at any other Government department, and nothing of value was taken.

The Royal Gibraltar Police attended, and the matter is now under police investigation.

The cash office will remain closed today while this work is completed and is expected to reopen shortly. All other areas of the Income Tax Office are fully operational and services to the public continue as normal. Anyone who needs to make a payment in person should check before attending or use the available electronic payment methods.
