Childline Gibraltar and GibSams have launched their first joint awareness campaign to promote the four confidential helplines available across Gibraltar.

A statement from Childline Gibraltar follows below:

Childline Gibraltar and GibSams are proud to come together for the first time to launch a new joint awareness campaign, “Together, We’ve Got Gibraltar Covered,”. As Gibraltar prepares for one of the most significant periods of change in its recent history, GibSams and Childline Gibraltar believe it is an important time to reinforce a powerful message: no one in Gibraltar has to face life’s challenges alone.

The campaign brings together Gibraltar’s four, free and confidential, helplines that collectively support the community at every stage of life, from childhood through to later years. The initiative is centred around a bold, easy-to-read poster now being shared across schools, workplaces, community spaces, and online platforms.

The four Helpline services highlighted are:

  • Childline Gibraltar (8008) – for children and young people aged 0–18, and adults concerned about a child

  • Teenline (8009) – dedicated support for young people aged 11–18

  • GibSams (116123) – emotional support for adults aged 18+

  • GibSilver (8000) – support for adults aged 55 and over

Each service is delivered by trained Listeners and offers a safe, non-judgemental space to talk — whether someone is struggling with their mental health, feeling overwhelmed, or simply needs someone to listen.

While GibSams and Childline Gibraltar have collaborated on individual projects and campaigns in the past, this is the first time the organisations have joined forces to raise awareness of the helplines they operate.

Although promoted together, GibSams and Childline Gibraltar remain independent charities with separate operational models. Each service is free, confidential and independently managed, with no information shared between the organisations.

This campaign is about visibility and reassurance. With the implementation of the new arrangements between Gibraltar, Spain and Europe expected to bring changes for individuals, families, workers and businesses, the two charities want every person in Gibraltar to know that support is always available, no matter their age or situation. By coming together, we are strengthening that message and making it easier for people to find the right support at the right time.

The campaign also encourages the public to save, share, and display the poster — recognising that a simple act of sharing information could make a life-changing difference.

This collaborative approach reflects the growing need for joined-up mental health support within Gibraltar’s close-knit community. As highlighted in recent operational updates, demand for listening services continues across calls, chats, and WhatsApp support, underlining the importance of accessible, well-promoted services.
