GCS Wraps Up 2026 Summer Programme
Gibraltar Cultural Services has wrapped up its 2026 Summer Programme after a summer of workshops, library sessions, history walks and art activities.
The programme also included selected Saturday openings at the Mario Finlayson National Art Gallery and GEMA Gallery, along with a pop-up exhibition at the cruise terminal.

Gibraltar Cultural Services (GCS), on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, is delighted with its successful Summer Programme, which delivered a diverse range of cultural activities for both children and adults throughout the summer months. This year also saw the opening of the Mario Finlayson National Art Gallery and GEMA Gallery open on selected Pressure Day Saturdays, with the idea of attracting more tourists to explore Gibraltar’s art. The cruise terminal also hosted a pop-up exhibition of work by Gibraltarian artists to showcase Gibraltar’s cultural scene.
The popular Summer Book Club at the John Mackintosh Hall Library welcomed young readers each week, while the Reading Passport Challenge encouraged children to continue reading throughout the holidays. A Book Club magazine documenting participants’ work and key highlights is also being prepared. Interactive storytelling sessions at local parks and galleries, together with creative workshops including papercraft, zine-making, magic garden and postcard sessions, proved extremely popular, keeping young people engaged and motivated.
The adult programme also received a great response, with participants enjoying a varied selection of cultural experiences. Activities included the Paint & Brew session with local artist Charlie Gingell, the Llanito History Culture Crawl led by Dr Ryan Asquez and GCS’s Davina Barbara, the first-ever Adults’ Late Night Reading at the John Mackintosh Hall Library, and a poetry workshop delivered by Natalie Massetti at BOOKgem.
The programme was exceptionally well received, with most sessions selling out in advance and excellent attendance recorded throughout the summer. This strong public response highlights the value of providing accessible opportunities for lifelong learning, creativity and cultural participation.
