A statement from the Gibraltar Heritage Trust follows below:
The Gibraltar Heritage Trust will host a special evening seminar on Wednesday 18th November 2026 at the Gibraltar Garrison Library to celebrate the publication of the 32nd edition of the Gibraltar Heritage Journal.
The event will bring together contributors and members of the public for an evening dedicated to Gibraltar’s history, archaeology and cultural heritage, highlighting the continued importance of historical research and the preservation of the Rock’s stories for future generations.
The Gibraltar Heritage Journal has been published annually since its first edition in 1993. Over the years, it has developed into an important resource documenting Gibraltar’s past, featuring research on military and social history, archaeology, language, architecture, family histories and the experiences of the people who have shaped the community. Its continued publication provides a valuable record of Gibraltar’s heritage, bringing together new research and personal accounts that contribute to a deeper understanding of the Rock’s history.

The 32nd edition continues this tradition, showcasing the work of contributors researching different aspects of Gibraltar’s past. The seminar will offer attendees an opportunity to hear directly from some of this year’s contributors, learn more about their research and discover the stories behind their published work.
Speakers on the evening will include Richard Garcia, Carl Viagas and Virginia Pinto Toro. The programme will also include the launch of The Northern Defences of Gibraltar, a new book by Timothy Wellburn, published by Fortress Attractions, exploring this important aspect of Gibraltar’s historic defensive landscape.
The seminar will take place in the Lower Reading Room of the Gibraltar Garrison Library. Complimentary tea and coffee will be available from 6:00 pm, ahead of the seminar commencing at 6:30 pm.
Tickets for the seminar are priced at £5 per person and are available through BuyTickets.gi: https://www.buytickets.gi/events/evening-seminar-gibraltar-heritage-journal-32nd-edition-1401
