Government Hits Back At GSD Over Procurement Rules
The Government has rejected the GSD’s latest criticism of changes to procurement rules, saying the amendments bring Gibraltar’s legislation into line with UK law.
A statement from Government follows below:
Noting the GSD's latest statement, the Government takes this opportunity to remind them of the reality.
The GSD are wrong on the changes to the Procurement rules. These changes make our laws like UK law with only the adapting changes necessary for our circumstances.
The breach of the law in procurement occurred during the time of Mr Azopardi's GSD in power when they granted a £1 BILLION contract without tender and in breach of EU and Gibraltar law to a company of a person then very close to the GSD. That is the reality.
Additionally the GSD refused to answer questions about their illegal awarding of this contract in Parliament. Mr Azopardi does not like to be reminded of that.
