Man Arrested After Varyl Begg Assault

The RGP says a 26-year-old local man was arrested on Friday on suspicion of assault following an incident near Canton House in Varyl Begg Estate. The victim was taken to hospital with facial injuries and suspected fractured ribs. The investigation remains ongoing.
A statement from the RGP follows below:
At approximately 12:30pm today, the RGP Control Room received several calls reporting a disturbance in the Varyl Begg Estate area, specifically in the vicinity of Canton House.
Due to the nature of the reports received, armed officers were deployed to the location. Upon arrival, officers identified a local male who had been the victim of an assault.
While conducting enquiries in the area, officers identified and arrested a local male, 26, on suspicion of assault.
The victim was conveyed to hospital to be treated for facial injuries and suspected fractured ribs.
Investigations remain ongoing, with officers from our Crime and Protective Services department providing support to the victim.
