Feb 09 - Governor Chairs First Gibraltar Security Council Meeting
The Governor Lt Gen Edward Davis has chaired the first meeting of the Gibraltar Security Council since taking office. The Chief Minister, Commissioner of Police and Commander of British Forces also attended the meeting together with senior members of their staff.
The GSC considered the current threat level and has concluded that Gibraltar should remain at Substantial level and that the response to that threat level will be reassessed on a regular basis, with regard to circumstances and intelligence updates.
The Governor said that while there was no specific threat to Gibraltar, it was important that we all remain vigilant and he asked members of the public to be alert and report anything they consider to be suspicious to the police.
