Jul 27 - GSD Says Limitation Act Amendments To Deal With GSD Debts Is "Nonsense"
The Opposition says that the suggestion by the Chief Minister that the amendments to the Limitation Act were meant to deal with what he calls “GSD debts” is absolute nonsense.
A spokesman for the GSD said: "During the last five years Government arrears have increased by nearly £3 million. Moreover, some of the debts incurred in our time in office would have become statute barred during the five years the Government has been in office.
"These amendments actually affect anyone who has historically owed the Government any money no matter the political party in power at the time.
"The Chief Minister unfortunately turns every debate, even when there is cross party consensus, into an unnecessary conflict.
"His metamorphosis into everything he used to criticise his predecessor for, is well and truly complete. His style has become synonymous with arrogance and high-handedness."
