Aug 15 - Hassan Nahon Condemns “Chaos And Frustration” Caused By Border Protest
Independent MP Marlene Hassan Nahon has said that today’s demonstration at the border shows once again that there are certain sectors within Spain that will use the border as a political tool.
Ms Hassan Nahon says the claims for parity made by the police federation Jusapol are “purely an internal political matter” yet the protest has caused “chaos and frustration” at the political frontier between Gibraltar and Spain.
Ms Hassan Nahon continued: “In addition, the scenes of provocation and harassment by some of the protestors are entirely unjustified and portray an ugly side of what are essentially off-duty law enforcement officers who align with hard right thinking and intolerance.
“The Foreign Office should issue a strongly worded protest to the Spanish Government at the highest level, and the Gibraltar Government must do likewise.”
