GSD Calls On Government To Address School Bus Issues For St Martin’s School And Early Birds Nursery

The GSD have urged the Government to address issues affecting school bus drop-off and pick-up times for St Martin’s School and Early Birds Nursery.
A statement from the GSD follows below:
We understand that one of the buses previously responsible for morning and afternoon routes is no longer available following the non-renewal of its contract. This has left families struggling, as there is now one less bus, causing significant delays. Many parents are deeply worried as their children are arriving late to school and being dropped off late in the afternoon, which is both disruptive and distressing for everyone involved.
This bus service is a lifeline for families who, for various reasons, find it difficult to use public transport. It is especially crucial because St Martin’s School opens its gates later than other HMGOG schools, making it even harder for working parents to manage their schedules. The current delays are causing severe stress for families who rely on this service, and they are understandably very concerned about the impact these late arrivals are having on their children’s education and well-being. Many parents have shared that these delays are causing their children anxiety and distress.
Atrish Sanchez MP stated, “The Government had the entire summer to find a solution to this problem, but instead, children and their families are now facing daily anxiety and disruption. It is worrying to think that children are missing valuable school time due to what seems to be a lack of planning. Families should not have to endure this unnecessary stress every single day.”
We call on the Government to act immediately to resolve this issue and ensure that every child who relies on this service can get to school on time, so their education is not compromised, and this needless stress is lifted from them and their families.
