Government Continues To Fail To Address Concerns On Marina Arm Encroachment At Catalan Bay Says GSD

The GSD have issued a statement calling on Government to address concerns regarding the marina arm of the Eastside project's encroachment on Catalan Bay.
A statement from the GSD follows below:
The undeniable fact is that the plans and designs for the Eastside project, as they currently stand and as filed with the DPC, show that the marina arm goes all the way across the entirety and full length of Catalan Bay beach.
The project therefore encroaches beyond the southernmost point of the reclamation which the governing parties and its leader at the time of the last election guaranteed would not happen.
The Government needs to satisfy the public that there will be no such encroachment.
The GSD is not against development in the area. This is evidenced by the fact that when in Government, the GSD had its own plans to construct in the area. The usual scaremongering on the Spanish issue is complete and utter nonsense. These are simply ridiculous kites which are being flown by the Government to confuse and obfuscate from the core issue of failing to deliver on an election commitment. The people will no longer be fooled.
Diversionary tactics are also being frantically deployed in the context of the GSD’s highlighting of the undeniable fact that the GSLP promised almost 2 years ago that the mountain rubble would be “gone” in 24 months. The time is almost up and it remains there in its full glory as a testament that the promises of this Government simply cannot be believed. If the delay is the result of rigorous environmental assessment and DPC involvement, as they say, why was this not factored in when they were trying to shore up support at the last election on what will be shown to be a false basis if the rubble is not removed in 2 months’ time?
The Government chooses to go on an irrelevant history lesson but they blow a gasket when they are reminded of their own failures and broken promises, which the GSD will continue to remind the public of until their time in office comes to an end by the next election.
