May 30 - Opposition Once Again Calls for Straight Answers from Government
The GSD has today insisted that the Government’s latest response on the Floating Hotel is very telling, but by what it does not say. The Opposition continues to question the Government on whether they have granted any soft loans in relation to or invested in the Floating Hotel as well as what the total cost of the project is to the Gibraltar tax payer. The Party claims that the Government has refused to answer these questions and therefore quickly renegaded on its commitment to openness and transparency.
In a statement released this morning, the GSD highlighted a number of other issues that Mr. Picardo has refused to answer questions on, the nature of the consultancy arrangements this Government has with former MEP Glynn Ford, whether Mr. Verde is himself associated with any entity tendering for Gibraltar Government projects in Gibraltar, in particular in relation to the recently announced permanent power station and the Government's award of contracts to start up companies subsidised by Future Job Strategy employees.
The Opposition is, once again, renewing its call on the Government to publish details of the Government’s financial involvement in the Floating Hotel project and clarify for the electorate, the cost of this floating and movable ‘investment’ of Euro 150 million in Gibraltar.
