24 July 2013
Spanish media are reporting that La Linea fishermen are being intentionally harassed when fishing in the waters surrounding Gibraltar.
In the latest alleged incident, the fishermen claim that, in an attempt to scare off fish, a tugboat started dropping huge concrete blocks into the sea in an area near to where they were fishing.
Sources say that the Guardia Civil were informed of the incident and it is reported that the Royal Navy and the RGP approached the area. According to a spokesperson for the fishermen, this act represents “further provocation" and increases the uncertainty faced by fishermen in the area.
