May 30 - Government Warns of Increased Threats Against Civil Servants
The Government of Gibraltar has today warned against increasing threats made against Civil Servants, by members of the public. The warning comes following an incident at the Housing Department during which a member of staff was told by an individual that he would ‘burn the place down’.
A statement released by Number 6 insists that they do not condone such behaviour, adding that staff being verbally abused on social media is equally unacceptable as face to face. In the case of the Housing Department, the incident was reported to the Police.
The Government has stressed that its employees are entitled to work ‘without fear or intimidation. With the support of the RGP and its legal team, vigorous action will be taken against those who threaten or assault any member of the Government’s staff. This action may include administrative sanctions.’
