Jul 01 - GSD Condemns Picardo Netto Tweet
The GSD has noted comments made by the Chief Minister on his Twitter feed during the speech in Parliament by Opposition member Jaime Netto this morning. The tweet read, "Jaime Netto ‘bores for Britain’ during Gibraltar Budget Session... #yawn".
The Party believes that ‘the Chief Minister has once again shown his infantile attitude to governance in Gibraltar but this time bringing Parliament itself into disrepute by doing so during a live session of Parliament’.
A spokesman for the GSD noted that Mr. Picardo ‘has a low opinion of everyone else, except for his own, but to do this when the Opposition member Jaime Netto was delivering his budget speech is quite extraordinary. It defines his earlier budget speech during which Mr Picardo painted a picture of economic prosperity that either shows him to be living a ‘cuckoo land’ or that he is still trying to deceive the people of Gibraltar.’
The spokesperson continued, ‘Of course, few people will believe what the Chief Minister has said, because it is simply not true. When the real economic picture unravels in the future he will have a lot of explaining to do. Until then the Opposition thinks that Mr Picardo should have the courtesy of listening to other MPs, even if they have an opposing view to his own. He might then perhaps learn something.’
