Ministry Of Equality Marks Successful End Of The Sixth Cycle Of The Women’s Mentorship Programme

The Ministry of Equality marked the end of the sixth cycle of the Women’s Mentorship Programme with a networking event at the Mayor’s Parlour.
A statement from the Government follows below:
The evening began with a short address by the Minister for Equality, the Hon Christian Santos GMD MP, who congratulated the mentees for taking ownership of their professional journeys and committing themselves to learning, development and self-improvement.
Minister Santos also thanked the mentors for their invaluable support of the Programme and for sharing their knowledge and expertise with their respective mentees. A total of thirty-seven mentees who took part in this cycle of the Programme were presented with certificates of participation.
After the Minister’s address, Women’s Mentorship Programme Lead, Marlene Dalli, opened the floor and invited both mentees and mentors to share their personal experiences of the Progamme. Feedback shared by the mentees demonstrated that the Programme had had a powerful impact on their professional journeys, providing them with the opportunity to reflect and take concrete steps towards their goals. Mentees were also extremely grateful to their mentors for their guidance, advice and support.
Mentors also conveyed their enjoyment of the Programme and expressed how the mentoring experience had been a significant and shared learning experience from which they had derived great personal satisfaction.
The Women’s Mentorship Programme has been running since 2018 and has garnered eager support from a broad range of sectors from the business community. The aim of the Progamme is to address the under-representation of women in certain sectors or fields and in positions of leadership and management. The Women’s Mentorship Programme is open to all women over the age of 18 who are resident in Gibraltar and caters for women working in the private and public sector. It is also open to women who may not currently be in employment.
The Minister for Equality, the Hon Christian Santos, said:“I am very pleased that we have been able to mark the successful end of the sixth cycle of the Women’s Mentorship Programme with this event today. It is really uplifting to see a room full of mentees and mentors committed to personal and professional growth and to see the wonderful relationships that have emerged from the mentee-mentor relationship. I am extremely grateful to all mentors for sharing their experiences, expertise and professional acumen with their mentees. The longevity of the Women’s Mentorship Programme is in no small part thanks to the support of mentors from across Gibraltar’s business community. The Programme is also a success due to the thorough and sensitive matching of each mentee and mentor by the team at the Ministry of Equality. I would like to encourage anyone interested in taking part in the next cycle of the Women’s Mentorship Programme, whether as a mentor or mentee, to reach out to the team at the Ministry of Equality.”
