Feb 02 - GSD Unsatisfied with Government Response on Buses
The GSD has today claimed that ‘the Government's reply to Opposition questions asked as well as concerns raised in relation to the buses is nothing but a bare-faced refusal to be held accountable by the electorate.’
The party claims that the in its reply the administration ‘refused to provide any reassurance that any measures have been taken to ensure it is safe for the new buses to drive along certain parts of Europa Road.’
Opposition spokesman Selwyn Figueras added, ‘it seems this is all the Government is able to do any more - refuse to answer and deflect at all costs, even if it means trying to deflect attention by referring to something the GSD allegedly did as an example of how things shouldn't be done when all the while that is exactly what they themselves are doing!’
Commenting on what the Opposition will do if they get elected to Government in 2015 he added, ‘we will publish full details of this tender process for people to make up their own minds about what really drove the decision to allocate the contract to Bassadone. We will also, as we have previously said, publish full details of all tenders received and, where the lowest (or highest, as the case may be) tenders are not chosen by a GSD Government, we will make a statement in Parliament setting out the reasons why.’
