Jun 09 - “Why Should People Trust Mr Bossano?” Asks The GSD
The GSD has today said that for the third year running Mr Bossano’s party political broadcast “has turned into his annual anti-Danny Feetham rant.”
The party says that two years ago GBC edited “particularly vicious comments directed at Mr Feetham and his family” out of a party political broadcast produced by Mr Bossano.
A spokesman said: “This kind of personalisation should have no place in politics. Mr Bossano cannot even uphold common courtesy and refer to the Leader of the Opposition as “Mr” Feetham. Instead he referred to him as “Feetham” throughout. The venom in his delivery left no one in any doubt, that if we lived in the old Soviet Union, Mr Feetham would have little chance of prospering to put it mildly”.
“Mr Bossano asks the people of Gibraltar to trust him above Danny Feetham but his style of politics shows he is not worthy of trust”.
“In any event, why should the people of Gibraltar trust Mr Bossano on the public finances when his party told the electorate at the last election that the GSD was addicted to debt and that Gibraltar was bankrupt only to proceed to spend money as if it were going out of fashion within months of being elected into Government, funded by £800 million worth of direct and indirect Government debt? Three times as much net debt and double the gross debt as when the GSD was in office! Why should people trust a party that lied so blatantly in pursuit of power?
“As for Mr. Bossano’s personal credibility, which he played on yesterday, we would remind Mr Bossano that in pursuit of power, he was prepared to do down our institutions on Spanish television when he participated in the Espejo Publico programme on the Dr Giraldi Home. We also remind him that he placed the pursuit of power above jobs in relation to Kvarener”.
