Jun 11 – The Future Of Employment Services: ERASMUS 15

The Government of Gibraltar announced the development and finalisation of ERASMUS 15 - Employment Reporting and Software Management Utility System, a new data managing and reporting software.

In line with previous announcements, the Department of Employment is committed to develop and progress the quality of the services provided to the general public and the business community. With this in mind, the Department decided to replace its outdated system with ERASMUS 15. This new software is a tailor-made, state-of-the-art program that will deliver far beyond the capabilities that are currently offered with the existing program.

The program will not only perform the basic tasks that are currently performed by the present system, such as the registration of those in employment, the enlisting of the unemployed and other basic administrational tasks.

ERASMUS 15 will be able to undertake sophisticated procedures, such as matching unemployed individuals to vacancies according to the criteria set out by the employer. The new software will accomplish this by cross-referencing and analysing key information such as qualifications, experience, skills and other requirements.

It was important for the program to be designed in a way that is compatible with the Department’s future I.T requirements. As a result, when the on-line submission of forms is activated by the roll out of the new e- ID cards, the software will be able to cater for this new information processing technology. The Department anticipates that the introduction of ERASMUS 15, along with the option to submit forms online, as was recently announced, will allow the staff to operate more efficiently, allowing them to further assist the unemployed or those in employment who are seeking better opportunities.

The Minister for Business and Employment, Neil Costa, said: “Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar is entirely committed to increasing employment opportunities. I have no doubt that the introduction of ERASMUS 15 will result in significant improvements within the department.

“Further, it will deliver to the department’s staff a modern internal software that will provide an effective and professional service to both the general public and the business community. This new software is yet another phase within my Ministry’s objectives to streamline procedures within the ETB and modernise administrative systems, thereby improving time management, productivity and the overall quality of services provided.”
