Jun 19 - Albert Isola Hosts An Insurance Linked Securities Lunch In London
Albert Isola, Minister with responsibility for Financial Services, hosted a lunch in London for some 30 professionals that specialise in insurance linked securities.
The lunch was held at 14 Cornhill in the City and followed on from a series of talks held that morning and organized by Euromoney Insurance Group under the banner of Convergence London.
A number of private sector firms from Gibraltar were also in attendance including EY, Aon, Isolas and Hassans. Michael Ashton, senior executive on insurance related matters from Gibraltar Finance led on the arrangements for the lunch together with participation in the morning seminar and has been instrumental in driving the ILS initiative forward.
In his address at the lunch, Minister Isola spoke, amongst other things, as to how Gibraltar was determined to be the EU domicile of choice for ILS transactions and that the Government had worked in partnership with the industry and the regulator to ensure that Gibraltar was able to deliver a first class service.
In addition to hosting the lunch Minister Isola attended a number of meetings and a reception, relating to financial services, at which he had been invited to participate and give a short address. The Minister was accompanied by Finance Centre Director, James Tipping.
