Jul 13 - Apply Fishing Laws “Across The Board” Says GSD
The GSD says it has received complaints from members of the public that Environmental Enforcement Officers have threatened to impose large fines on parents of children fishing with small rods or lines without a licence in well known recreational areas inside the port area.
The GSD believes that this is “wholly disproportionate” adding that Spanish Fishermen are entering our waters “on a daily basis” and fishing with nets with impunity including in the area of the artificial reef.
A statement from the party ended: “The law should be applied and enforced across the board and should not simply be enforced on easy targets. In this regards, we remind the Government that their manifesto contains a promise that the ban on the use of nets in BGTW would enforced.”
