Oct 19 - Unite Meets With Interserve Senior Management Team In UK
Unite the Union has carried out high level meetings with Interserve Defence Ltd Senior Management team at their offices in West Bromwich, UK.
Unite's delegation consisted of Christian Duo (Unite Branch Coordinating Official) and Christopher Buckley (Interserve Shop Steward).
One of the main discussions was based on the TUPE process of one of Interserve's sub-contractors, which has seen thirty-five employees attaining direct employment with Interserve.
It was agreed to put an action plan together to harmonise these 35 employees' working conditions which, in turn, will benefit all staff with an improvement of their terms and conditions.
In respect of the current direct workforce, an increase of special leave for attending medical appointments outside Gibraltar has been agreed and Unite also managed to settle a long-standing pay claim for Technical Officers Grades.
A statement from the Union continued:
“Unite and Interserve have a strong commitment in training and development, with a view to offer enhanced opportunities for all staff. This will in effect, at the same time cover skills gaps. This plan of action has seen already a number of employees having been given the opportunity to carry out up to NVQ level 3 training in different trades. In this respect, this term three further employees will commence the said training programme. “Unite took the opportunity at the said meeting to submit a claim for the alignment of the annual pay increase to that of HMGOG for a further 3 year period.
“By means of these representations employees at Interserve have been awarded a 2.75% increase in this year's pay award.
“Unite would like to thank outgoing General Manager Graham Joslin, for the support given in the last three years and look forward to continuing that relationship, with the new Senior Management team.”
