Declaration Of Enlistment By Royal Gibraltar Police Recruits

Eleven RGP recruits and one recruit from the Royal Falkland Islands Police completed their declarations of enlistment into the Royal Gibraltar Police.
A statement from the RGP follows below:
The short ceremony was overseen by RGP training staff and supervisory officers in the presence of Commissioner of Police Owain Richards, who then presented each recruit with their Warrant Cards. Currently on Week 1 of their 24-week initial police training programme, those who successfully complete the course will progress to a 10-week tutorship and mentoring programme as part of their 2-year probationary
period within an operational Response Team. This culminates with successful probationers being confirmed in post as a Police Constable.
The recruits (7 males and 5 females) will soon also undertake their Oath/Affirmation of Constable and their “Oath/Affirmation of Allegiance” to His Majesty the King, in the presence of a Magistrate, whereupon they will be afforded the police powers that they will be able to exercise in due course.
This year’s recruit class aims to fill a number of vacancies arising from officers who have terminated their service in recent months through retirement or other reasons, or as a result of promotions. The current recruit class includes university graduates and former members of HM Armed Forces, UK policing and the nursing profession.
The Royal Gibraltar Police are already preparing for the next Recruit Police Constable class scheduled for January 2026. Anyone considering a rewarding career in public service is encouraged to visit the RGP website www.police.gi/information/career opportunities for information on applying, entrance examination bookings, key dates and other useful information.
