P. J. Long marks his publishing debut with “Finding Eva” in a moving historical fiction, readers journey through the mind of Olivia Bosano, a young Gibraltarian girl returning home to meet her father for the first time.

It is 1946 as Olivia boards a ship bound for Gibraltar. She makes friends with a girl named Eva, and the two are eventually separated as Eva departs the ship at Malaga. She has left her scarf behind, which Olivia collects from a lost property box before her own departure. When Olivia disembarks in Gibraltar, her father is not waiting for her… Eva is living in Spain, a country coming to terms with the effects of the Civil War. Olivia realizes that she needs to find Eva again.

“My novel is based on events surrounding Gibraltarian people during the Second World War, and how their lives were affected in its aftermath – particularly the loss of loved ones and the cultural changes that followed,” says P. J. Long. “The story will appeal to adults and children alike, providing an understanding of the Gibraltarians, their history and intrinsic link to the United Kingdom.”

“Finding Eva”, published by AuthorHouse UK, is a touching and moving tale of a young girl’s attempt to overcome loss and death as she searches for lasting love and friendship in a world still coming to terms with the effects of the Second World War.

P. J. Long was born in Buckinghamshire, England in 1964. “Finding Eva” is based around the authors’ mother’s early life.
