Oct 16 – RFA Tidespring Arrives Tomorrow
16 October 2017
Royal Fleet Auxiliary Tidespring is set to arrive in Gibraltar tomorrow. Tidespring will call into the Naval Base for routine logistic support.
Tidespring is the first of a fleet of four 39,000 tonne Tide-Class tankers, capable of carrying up to 19,000 cubic metres of fuel and 1,400 cubic metres of fresh water. She arrived in the UK earlier this year to join the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, the civilian-manned fleet which provides support for warships, helping the Royal Navy maintain operations around the world.
The new Tide Class tankers will provide key support to the Queen Elizabeth Class carriers as they come into service, alongside the wider fleet.
