Mar 22 - Niah Lima Crowned Dream Girl Of The Year 2018

At last Friday's show in John Mackintosh Hall, Niah Lima was crowned Dream Girl of the Year. This is the show's 13th edition. 

A spokesperson said: "After 7 weeks of hard work, rehearsal after rehearsal, trying to perfect those routines and catwalks, 13-year old Niah Lima (sister of Dream Girl of the Year 2013 Kathryn Lima and sister of Miss Glamour 2013 Tessa Britto) was crowned Dream Girl of the Year 2018 during the 13th consecutive edition of the competition held at the John Mackintosh Hall on Friday 16th March. She also walked away with three awards, Miss Friendship, Miss Vogue and Miss Elegant. 

"Niah who enjoys rowing and hockey and aspires to become a doctor, was crowned by Dream Girl of the Year 2017 Gisella Ignacio. The youngest contestant of the night, Zuleima Molina, aged 12, was elected 1st Princess and Miss Best Effort whilst Gesenia Sanchez was won 2nd Princess and Miss Catwalk. Other awards presented by Miss Glamour 2017 Daniella Ambrose Ford were given on the night. Miss Cover Girl and Miss People’s Choice was awarded to Joleen Parody."

Contestants presented themselves in various different catwalk routines: Opening, Presentation, Miss Vogue, Miss Catwalk and Miss Elegant. Entertainment for the night consisted of performances from Urban Dance and Adam Rocca as well as two fashion shows by Little Divas - Princess Fashion and O.W.L. by Charlene Figueras.

All shows to date are non-profit events with all the proceeds benefiting local charities such as BabySTEPPs Gibraltar, The Guardian Angel Foundation, Childline Gibraltar, Gibraltar Community Association, Gibraltar Breast Cancer Support, RICC Gibraltar, GBC Open Day, Gibraltar Alzheimer’s; Dementia Society, Corazon y Vida, Little Smiles Charity, Diabetes Gibraltar and Action4Schools Sierra Leone.

They are now in preparation for the Wedding Dress Competition 2018, which will be taking place at the Alameda Open Air Theatre on Friday 10th August. Miss Glamour 2018, which is aimed for young ladies between the ages of 16-21 will take place on Friday 12th October at the John Mackintosh Hall. For further information please call 54000377.
