Jun 29 - Julio Ribas Appointed New Head Coach Of National Team
The GFA has announced the appointment of Julio Ribas as the new Head Coach of the Gibraltar National Team.
Julio has an extensive career record which includes coaching the Oman national team during the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifiers as well as winning the national championship in his native Uruguay with CD Peñarol in 2003. He has also coached in Paraguay (with Nacional) and in Italy with Venezia.
Julio achieved notable success as the Head Coach of Lincoln Red Imps FC winning the domestic league title and cup as well as the Pepe Reyes Cup.
Julio has signed a contract with the GFA until 2021 which will see him lead the National Team through two UEFA Nations League cycles (in 2018 and 2020), the UEFA EURO 2020 European Qualifiers and the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
