Captain Of The Port Of Gibraltar John Ghio Appointed To IBIA’s European Regional Board

The Gibraltar Port Authority have announced that CEO and Captain of the Port, John Ghio,  has been appointed to the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA)’s newly formed European  Regional Board.

A statement from the Government follows below:

This was announced earlier this week at the IBIA Annual Convention held in Athens,  Greece, where global leaders gathered to discuss the future of marine fuels and sustainable practices  within the shipping industry.

The establishment of the European Regional Board is a strategic milestone for IBIA, supporting its  mission to address regional challenges and promote sustainable marine fuel practices across Europe.  The board will work to enhance cooperation within the European bunker and shipping sectors and  develop solutions tailored to Europe’s unique regulatory and environmental landscape.

In his new role, Captain John Ghio will bring Gibraltar’s perspective to IBIA’s strategic initiatives and,  in turn, strengthen ties between Gibraltar and the broader European marine fuel community.

CEO and Captain of the Port, John Ghio, said: “It is an honour to have been asked join the IBIA  European Regional Board. I look forward to working together with European colleagues to address  the challenges facing our industry and to advance initiatives that support sustainable and innovative  practices within the marine fuel sector.”
